Description
Create thousands of names with the roll of a few dice.
It All Started With a Name is a 376-page book of random tables for creating NPCs, shops, businesses and magic items for your D&D game.
The book starts with names. There are generators for character classes, species and occupations, giving you plenty of names to choose from when you need a new character at the table. From there, you can use the other tables to work out what that NPC looks like, where they come from, what they do, what they enjoy, what motivates them and the little things that make them stand out.
There are also pregenerated quick NPCs and detailed NPCs if you don't want to build one yourself.
The same idea is used for shops and businesses. Generate clothing stores, general stores, herbalists, jewellers, magic shops, market stalls, taverns, blacksmiths and bookstores, then use the appearance and business tables to add more detail. The book also includes detailed shops and their owners.
At the back of the book you'll find 80 illustrated magic items, including weapons, armour, potions, scrolls, staffs, wands and wondrous items.
