Exquisite Crime does this by having you draw several “Exquisite Corpse”, which is a classical fine art exercise that involves using collaborative drawing.
Or our case, to tell a story about crime as paranormal detectives.
Exquisite Crime asks players to harness their latent psychic abilities in order to solve mysteries ranging from the quirky to the surreal to the downright monstrous. Only those who are tapped into the paranormal can perceive the messages from beyond the veil. Will the players be able to translate those visions into sketches that will lead to the capture of the guilty party?
Every player contributes visually and narratively to this paranormal crime story as it unfolds, drawing sketches of the Victim, the Scene of the Crime, the Suspects, and the Witnesses. While investigating questions covering elements like: Means, Motive, and Opportunity— all the essential elements of any good crime story!
Though drawing is the main focus of the game, the fun is when players reveal their final collaboration together. Exquisite Crime at its core invites players to delve into strange nonsensical worlds, so even using references and literally cut and pasting clip art can accomplish a similar task.
Exquisite Crime is designed for 2-4 players to enjoy in a single 2-3 hour session, that by the time the game is finished - will have several keepsakes showcasing your story.
